Brenda Knox, CFP®, AIF®

Brenda Knox, CFP®, AIF®, is President of Financial Elements, Inc. She has been a financial advisor for over 18 years (1996), working at another Fee-Only financial advisory firm prior to founding Financial Elements, Inc. She has a wide variety of experience working extensively with clients in the creation of hundreds of financial plans. She enjoys developing long term relationships with her clients and tailoring her services to her clients’ individual needs. She works with clients on investments, retirement planning, cash flow and savings, insurance, estate, and college planning believing that a holistic approach is the most beneficial to help clients achieve success.

Brenda completed all five modules of the CFP® certification education program on an accelerated basis. She sat for and passed the comprehensive CFP® examination in 1997, and received her CFP® certification in 1999. Brenda graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major, and has an Associate in Arts degree from William Rainey Harper College. She was also a member of the Franklin Honor Society at Roosevelt University. Prior to her work in financial planning, Brenda worked for Ameritech Corporation in Hoffman Estates. Her positions there included leading a team of revenue analysts and working in general ledger accounting.

Brenda pursues continuing education on a regular basis. Through the CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) program through the Wharton School and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), she has earned her RPA (Retirement Plan Associate) designation and her GPA (Group Benefits Associate) designation. Brenda received her Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation (AIF®) in May of 2013.

Brenda has been a case study presenter at a NAPFA Midwest Conference. In addition, she has previously served in an advisory capacity to the University of Illinois Extension services by reviewing financial planning literature for accuracy prior to publication. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the country’s leading professional association of fee only planners. She is currently serving on the NAPFA Midwest Region Board as Symposium Chair.

She has been quoted in the Chicago Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, and other publications. Brenda has also authored an article for the NAPFA Planning Perspectives consumer newsletter and for the Daily Herald special interest section.

Brenda lives in Rolling Meadows with her husband and two boys. She is actively involved in her community; serving as Activity Chair for Boy Scouts, and as a member of the finance committee at her church. Financial Elements also sponsors Rolling Meadows Youth Baseball and Boy Scout Troop 168.
